• The Perfect Derma Peel is typically done as a series of 3 treatments, spaced 3–4 weeks apart, with maintenance every 6–12 months depending on your skin goals.

• The PQ Age Peel & PRX Derm Perfexion are each performed as a series of 4 treatments, spaced 1 week apart. These treatments build on each other to stimulate collagen, improve skin tone & texture, & enhance overall radiance. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 2–3 months to maintain results.

Both the Perfect Derma Peel & the PQ Age Peel are considered painful, but the Perfect Derma Peel is a bit more intense, while the PQ Age Peel is known for being super gentle.

PRX Derm Perfexion is also very well-tolerated—most patients describe a mild tingling or tightening sensation during application. There’s no pain, no numbing required, & no downtime, making it a comfortable option for even the most sensitive skin types.

• Perfect Derma Peel:
  Expect visible peeling to start around day 2 or 3 & last about 5–7 days. During this time, your skin may look flaky or shedding—especially around the mouth & chin. You’ll need to follow post-care instructions carefully & avoid picking at the skin.

• PQ Age Peel:
  No visible downtime at all! You can go right back to your day with glowing skin—no redness, no flaking, just a refreshed look. It's perfect before events or when you want results without the recovery.

• PRX Derm Perfexion:
  Zero downtime, zero peeling. While you may feel a slight tingling or tightening during treatment, your skin will look instantly firmer, smoother, & more radiant—with no interruption to your routine. It’s an ideal option before vacations, photos, or special events when you want to glow without waiting.

For the Perfect Derma Peel & PQ Age peel, results are often seen after one treatment; however, multiple treatments are recommended to see optimal results. Maintenance treatments are recommended every 3-6 months.

With PRX Derm Perfexion, you’ll notice an immediate glow & skin tightening effect after your first treatment, with continued improvement over a series of sessions. Results build with each appointment, as collagen production increases beneath the surface. A full series includes 4 treatments spaced 1 week apart, with maintenance every 2–3 months to keep your skin looking firm, radiant, & refreshed year-round.

There are four main types of peeling agents:

• AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) like glycolic or lactic acid, which exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin

As with any medical-grade skin treatment, some mild side effects are possible, but they are typically short-lived & manageable. Here’s what you can expect with each of the chemical peels offered at Skin Body & Soul Med Studio:

• Perfect Derma Peel:
  Because this is a medium-depth peel, the most common side effect is visible peeling that begins around day 2 or 3 & can last up to a week. During this time, you may experience redness, dryness, tightness, or a mild stinging sensation. It’s important to avoid picking or peeling the skin, & to follow all post-care instructions to support healing & prevent complications like hyperpigmentation.

• PQ Age Peel:
  This peel is known for being very gentle with minimal risk of side effects. Some patients may experience temporary warmth, tightness, or a slight tingling sensation during application. Redness is uncommon, & there's no visible peeling. Rarely, sensitive skin types may notice minor dryness or tightness in the days following treatment.

• PRX Derm Perfexion:
  PRX is also very well-tolerated, with no visible peeling or downtime. Some patients may feel a temporary tingling, warmth, or tightness during the application. Mild redness or sensitivity may occur shortly after the treatment but typically resolves within a few hours. Because the skin barrier remains intact, side effects are minimal compared to traditional peels.

All three treatments are considered safe for most skin types when performed by a trained professional. A pre-treatment consultation will help determine the best option for your skin & ensure the safest, most effective outcome.

Before a Perfect Derma Peel:

To ensure the best results & reduce the risk of irritation or side effects, there are a few important steps you should follow before any chemical peel. While all three treatments—PQ Age Peel, Perfect Derma Peel, & PRX Derm Perfexion—are non-surgical & non-invasive, proper skin prep can make a big difference.

General guidelines for all chemical peels:

• Avoid retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, & other exfoliating products for at least 5–7 days before your appointment.

• Stay out of direct sun exposure & avoid tanning beds for at least 1 week prior to your treatment.

• Do not wax, shave, or use depilatory creams in the treatment area 48 hours before your appointment.

• Let us know if you’re using Accutane, antibiotics, or any other prescription medications, as these may affect your skin’s sensitivity.

• Avoid in-office treatments such as lasers, microneedling, or other peels for at least 2 weeks before your scheduled peel.

• If you have active cold sores, open wounds, or recent sunburn, your treatment may need to be rescheduled.

Perfect Derma Peel:
Because this is a medium-depth peel with visible peeling, we may recommend prepping the skin with a medical-grade skincare regimen several days in advance, especially if you're treating hyperpigmentation. You’ll also be given specific post-care instructions at the time of your visit—it's helpful to plan ahead for a few days of downtime.

PQ Age Peel:
This gentle, no-downtime peel does not require extensive pre-treatment prep, but following the general guidelines above will help avoid irritation. It’s best to arrive with clean skin & avoid applying makeup or skincare before your appointment.

PRX Derm Perfexion:
PRX requires no special pre-treatment skincare, but your skin should be calm, hydrated, & free of irritation. Avoid exfoliating or using actives for several days before your visit. Arrive with a clean face, & we’ll take care of the rest!

• Discontinue certain skincare products: Stop using any retinoids (like Retin-A) or products with glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or Vitamin C at least 3–5 days before the peel.

• Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep the skin well-hydrated.

• Cleanse: Make sure your skin is free of makeup or any skincare products on the day of your treatment.

• Avoid sun exposure: Stay out of direct sun or tanning beds for at least a week before the treatment to avoid irritation or damage to the skin.

Avoid:

• Waxing, threading, or intense exfoliation for at least 1 week before the peel.

• Laser treatments or any aggressive skin treatments for at least 2 weeks prior.

Before a PQ Age Peel:

Do:

• Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to prepare your skin for the treatment.

• Cleanse: Cleanse your face thoroughly before your appointment to remove any makeup, oils, or dirt.

• Avoid sun exposure: Limit sun exposure for a few days leading up to the peel to minimize skin irritation.

Avoid:

General Tips for Both:

Aftercare is essential for maximizing results & protecting your skin as it heals. Each chemical peel has slightly different post-care instructions depending on its depth & effect on the skin.

General guidelines for all peels:

• Avoid direct sun exposure & always wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

• Skip the gym, hot showers, saunas, & excessive sweating for at least 24–48 hours.

• Do not use retinoids, exfoliants, or active skincare ingredients until your provider gives the all-clear.

• Avoid makeup for the first 24 hours (or longer if peeling is present).

• Never pick, rub, or peel flaking skin—this can lead to scarring or pigmentation.

Perfect Derma Peel:

You’ll be sent home with a post-peel kit containing soothing wipes, a moisturizer, & detailed instructions. Peeling typically begins on day 2 or 3 & may last up to 7 days. Avoid touching or picking at the skin. Stick to gentle, hydrating products & let the peeling process happen naturally. It’s important to stay out of the sun & wear SPF daily, even indoors near windows.

PQ Age Peel:

This is a no-downtime treatment, so you can return to your routine right away. You may notice a slight tightening or glow immediately after, with continued improvement over time. Keep your skin hydrated, avoid harsh products for 1–2 days, & wear SPF daily to maintain results. For best outcomes, follow the full treatment series.

PRX Derm Perfexion:

After treatment, your skin will look fresh, tight, & radiant. You may be given a special at-home moisturizer (such as WiQo) to enhance & extend your results. Avoid active ingredients (like retinol or acids) for 2–3 days, & focus on hydration & sun protection. Since there's no visible peeling, you can wear makeup the next day if desired—but keeping your skin makeup-free for 24 hours is ideal.
